I’ll be the first to admit that I’m that person – I love Christmas. This past weekend we went (for the first time ever) to cut down our Christmas tree from a farm. It was such a fun experience, and one we’ll hopefully repeat.
The tree is up, and decorated, the house has reminders of the season scattered throughout, and I’ve started wearing my Christmas sweaters (which I’ll do every day up until Christmas itself). That holiday season feeling is really starting to spread.
While we don’t all celebrate Christmas, there’s always something in life worth celebrating. So for this month’s reading, I decided to go with the theme of celebration and ask what should you celebrate this month?
Look at the tree below, and choose a bough (… or a card). Once you’ve made your choice, scroll down to look up the meaning.
One: Ace of Wands
Passion, creativity, fire – focus on celebrating these parts of yourself this month. Let those creative sparks fly, and take any opportunity to pursue something you love. Share ideas, radiate warmth, and go on adventures. Always remember to be true to yourself – the world is better with you in it.
Two: Queen of Cups
You are a compassionate, nurturing, and empathetic soul. You’ve done much to support those you love in any capacity that you can. When we give so much to others, we sometimes forget to take a moment out for ourselves. This month celebrate you – practice some self-care, and enjoy all that the season has to offer.
Three: Four of Coins
This year you’ve been making steady progress towards your goals.. Celebrate the progress you have made, and the times where you’ve conserved when you’ve wanted to spend. Remember that saving and control can lead to tedium and stagnation – don’t forget to reward yourself for your efforts.
In a season where it’s so easy to rush through everything and overindulge, celebrate your ability to have patience and balance. Trust your instincts and practice this skill – you know when to move forward, and when to hold back. When appropriate, encourage others to do the same.
Five: Two of Swords
While the Two of Swords generally speaks to indecision and difficult choices, this month it’s a reminder to celebrate the choices you do have in life. Sometimes options can be overwhelming, and it feels impossible to decide, but the upside is that you’re not forced down one specific path. Trust logic and intuition this month to make those difficult decisions that arise.
Six: Three of Coins
You’ve been lucky enough to be part of a wonderful group of people who work harmoniously, and support one another. Whether those people are friends, family, co-workers, classmates or teammates, take time to celebrate each other and everything you’ve accomplished together. Continue to support those you love, and rejoice in the spirit of the season.
Life isn’t always fair, and it’s easy to fall into the trap of being the victim. This month, take time to reflect on the year and celebrate the situations that resolved with fairness and integrity. Be proud of those moments where you took accountability for your actions. Don’t allow yourself to feel riddled with guilt or regret over resolved issues – justice has been served, and it’s time to move on.
Eight: Eight of Swords
Sometimes it’s easier to allow yourself to drown in darkness, but every step forward we take is something worth celebrating. This month celebrate all the criticism that you have grown beyond, the pieces of self-hatred that you’ve pushed aside, and the negative thoughts that you’ve been able to expel. It’s definitely a journey, but every step counts.
Nine: The Sun
Whether you’re going through ups or downs, this month it’s time to take a step back and celebrate your life and vitality. Think back on your successes from this year – no matter how big or small. Reflect on on happy memories, soak up the sunlight, and spread joy where you go. It’s time to live!
Ten: Ten of Cups
This is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the people and moments that bring you happiness, and bliss. Spend time doing what you enjoy with your loved ones – you’ll feel connected and emotionally recharged. Appreciate the harmony that is present in your life – make note of all that is good.
Eleven: Queen of Swords
Much of what you’ve accomplished has been of your own sheer will and volition. You are strong and self-reliant. Celebrate your journey, as you have gained wisdom through joy and pain. Work with your logical side, and trust in yourself to make the right decisions.
